A policy forum on « The EU and Southeast Asia » was held in Brussels on 28 November 2013. Co-organized by the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD), the Southeast Asia Division of the European External Action Service (EEAS) and SEATIDE members, the forum explored ways of bridging the gap between EU foreign policy-makers and the academic community of Southeast Asian specialists.
Focusing on three topics where the social sciences and humanities (SESH) can make a greater contribution to policy-making, the forum was divided into the following panels:
- The future of SEA regional integration and related opportunities for European Foreign Policy
- China's influence on Southeast Asia
- Nation-building and the challenges of ethnic and religious diversity in SEA.
