School education and national integration in Indonesia: Trajectories of policies 1850s – 1950s

The transition from colonial to post-colonial state was a critical moment by which fundamental elements of the concept of integration were determined. The aim of this research is to examine educational policies and their impact in the making of citizenship. This research will especially analyze the concept of “being national” and the nature of cultural inclusion and exclusion.
